1enclose revolutionary design and materials significantly reduce your installation and labour costs.

  • We have developed a business case based on the following scenario:

A new area needs to be connected with an existing fibre optic network. Splicing needs to be done between a 96 and a 12 fibre cable.
The client’s premises are in the middle of the 2 nodes, or 1 km to the nearest node.

“Click” below to reveal the solutions explained:

In order to install ONU 3 with enough overlength, the network installer needs to:

Step 1  Dig a gutter hole from the client’s premises to the fibre ring network.
Step 2  Dig a hole at the cross section of the client drop cable and the 96 ring cable.
Step 3  Blow the 12 fibre cable from the nearest manhole to the cross section. Make interception points regularly to intercept the drop cable in order to blow it further in the duct.
Step 4  Blow the 12 fibre cable from the cross section to the client’s premises.
Step 5  Enter the 12 fibre cable in the butt-enclosure in the manhole and splice the 12 fibres.

Scenario remarks:

A  The number of drop cables is normally limited per butt-enclosure to 4. Thus, the number of times we can repeat this scenario is limited.
B  The HDPE duct can handle only a limited number of cables. Also here, it means that the number of times we can repeat this scenario is limited.
C  A big distance of drop cable needs to be purchased and installed i.e. from ONU to the client.
D  Depending on the diameter of the duct and the distance to the cross section, the installer would need to dig a cable interception point so that it would be possible to blow the drop cable to the interception point. At every interception point the ducts need to be connected using couplers, and using a Y-connector at the cross section point.

Competitor solution 1 with its traditional methods is approximately 302% higher in installation costs
compared to the 1enclose solution.

In order to install ONU 3 with enough overlength, the network installer needs to:

Step 1  Dig a gutter hole of approximately 10 metres in order to create the overlength which can then be used to roll up in ONU 3.
Step 2  Dig a pit to install the manhole.
Step 3  Install 10 metres of new HDPE duct and connect to the manhole.
Step 4  Use the overlength in ONU 1 to blow the cable in to the manhole. The installer needs at least 10 + 10 = 20m overlength in ONU 1 in order to have 10m overlength in ONU 3.
Step 5  Splice the 96 fibre cable in ONU 3 to the 12 fibre cable and the 96 fibre optic cable. This also means that all the splices of the 96 fibre cable need to be re-made.

Scenario remarks:

A  It is important to mention that this scenario cannot be repeated for every connection because of the limited overlength in each manhole.
B  Step 1 and 3 can be replaced by blowing 10 metres of overlength from ONU 2 to ONU 3. We have not chosen for this in our example in order to limit the use of scarce overlength in both manholes.

Competitor solution 2 with its traditional methods is approximately 200% higher in installation costs compared to the 1enclose solution.

Patented solutions of 1enclose :

For this solution the network installer needs to:

Step 1  Dig 1 pit to install the 1enclose capsule. Because of its small size the pit is considerably smaller than the pit size for a manhole.
Step 2  Open the HDPE tube for approximately 1 metre.
Step 3  Strip the cable into a loose tube bundle and take out the loose tubes that are needed to be spliced to the 12 fibre cable.
Step 4  Splice the 12 fibres (If required: organisers for cold splices can be used)

Scenario remarks:

A  No construction permit is needed, unlike the installation of a manhole.
B  Unlike the other scenarios, this solution can be repeated frequently on the same fibre cable.
C  The 1enclose capsule has a distribution module which allows at least 8 drop cable entries.
D  In addition, several homes/businesses can have their own cable spliced on the existing network using the same 1enclose capsule node.
